How the Competition Works

Entry is free - You just need an email-verified Sudoku.by account. When you click Enter Competition, you receive the exact same Master puzzle as every other competitor, so the playing field is identical for everyone. Your solve is scored from a 10,000-point base, with deductions for solving time (2 points per second, capped), mistakes (200 each) and hints (300 each). Ties are broken by fastest time, then fewest hints, fewest mistakes, and earliest submission. Suspiciously fast completions are automatically flagged for review. Final standings are decided the moment the competition window closes on Jun 01, 2026 - the rankings above update live until then. Between competitions, track your progress on the all-time Sudoku leaderboard or brush up on Sudoku rules and solving techniques to sharpen your speed.
